Circuit - Circuit is nothing but a loop or mesh, i.e. a closed part. The interconnection of circuits is nothing but a network.
- In presence of active sources all the three passive lumped R,L and C elements will always absorbs the energy, When these elements are absorbing energy the currents through them will always flow from positive terminal to negative terminal.
- Resistance is memoryless element while inductor and capacitances are storing elements hence they are called elements with memory.
- In absence of active sources, the stored energies in L & C elements will be delivered to memoryless resistances whenever the L and C elements are delivering the energy, the current through them will always flow from negative to positive terminal. As the resistor is always absorbing energy the current through it will always flows from '+' to '-' terminals.
The Kirchhoff's Laws
Kirchhoff's Current Law (KCL)
It is always defined at a node...(simple node, principle node)
The simple node is an interconnection of only two branches, whereas principle node is an interconnection of atleast three branches.
KCL - In a lumped electric circuit, for any of its nodes and at any time 't', the algebraic sum of branch currents leaving the node is zero.
It also states that sum of entering currents = sum of leaving currents.
Properties :-
1) The KCL applies to any lumped electric ciecuit, it does not matter whether the elements are linear, non-linear, active, passive, time varying, time invariant etc. i.e. the KCL is independent of nature of elements connected to it.
2) Since there is no accumulation of energy at any node, the KCL expresses conservation of charge at each & every node in a lumpe electric circuit.
